You know what Junjou Romantica reminds me of?

a delicious marinated Ribeye steak. 

Mostly, I say this because I wanna connect a hilarious, yet cheesy, yaoi to the ribeye I’m about to cook, but you can see some similarities. 

Junjou Romantica can be seen as just another generic yaoi story, but really there’s a lot of layers of comedy, and drama, and feelings that people worked hard to add into that slab of boys love goodness.

This goes for my ribeye recipe as well. There’s this steak that everyone knows and loves. It’s flavorful, it’s tender, and it’s cheaper than a tenderloin, but then it has all these underlying flavors from the jillions of lil ingredients you add into the steak, and the rub and the sauce.

It’s good stuff, which is why I’m gonna teach you how to make it.

Balsamic Marinated Ribeye with Balsamic BBQ Sauce
(serves: 2 anime homosexuals)

Ingredients for Steak-

  • 2 Ribeye steaks
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp minced garlic

Ingredients for Dry Rub-

  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme

Ingredients for Sauce-

  • 2 Tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 3 chopped shallots
  • 1 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tsp dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke*
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced roasted tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp tomato paste

Procedure for Steak-

  • Pour the balsamic vinegar, olive oil and garlic into a 2 gallon plastic bag and throw the steaks in there. Let it marinate in room temperature for about 2 1/2 hours.
  • Once it’s done marinating, cover the steaks in the rub (see instructions below). 
  • Heat up a grill pan on high and drizzle with olive oil. Wait until it gets hella hot and add the steaks. 
  • Using a pastry brush, brush some of the BBQ sauce (read below for instructions) onto the steak, then once it’s browned on the other side, flip it over. 
  • Brush some sauce on this side as well, then flip it over a third time and brush sauce onto this side again. 
  • Repeat these steps for about 5 minutes, until the steaks are a nice, chocolatey brown and the grill lines are dark and prominent.
  • LET THE STEAK SIT FOR AT LEAST 7 MINUTES. This lets the juices set into the steak so they don’t fucking spill everywhere the second you cut into it.
  • Eat this work of art and try not the cry tears of joy.

Procedure for Rub-

  • mix all dat shit together then u done

Procedure for Sauce-

  • Place some olive oil and garlic into a medium sized saucepan. Let that brown for a bit. Add the minced shallots and let those brown up as well.
  • Add the balsamic vinegar and brown sugar. Let that reduce for about 7 minutes, until the balsamic’s almost completely reduced.
  • Then add the red wine. Let it reduce by half. Add the rest of the ingredients in and cook until it thickens a bit.
  • After cooking it for about 5 minutes, throw that shit into a blender and puree it for about 30 seconds, then u done.
